Universal and Inclusive Design Matters

Designing for the average person is passé. Instead, we need to design using edge cases to define new boundaries for natural, accessible and meaningful interactions. Although more than 15% of the population in the U.S. is considered disabled, we are all situationally disabled on a regular basis. And our aging population continues to grow. Join design ethnographer Kelly Goto as she shows how universal and inclusive design principles will enable a new era of adaptive experiences — and how this thinking will benefit all. #inclusive design #universal design #adaptivedesign #accessibility #usability

Descriptive UX: Co-Creation with the Blind Community
July 30, 2020
The pandemic has challenged the way we conduct research and collaborate. In this free webcast, Kelly Goto, Principal & CEO of gotomedia and gotoresearch will share the development of an accessible, generative co-creation process utilizing remote interviews, diary studies, and group sessions to brainstorm, gain insights, understand barriers, and create ideal product experiences. Her companies have worked closely with the organization Lighthouse for the Blind, developing assistive technology devices using AI and vibration – focusing on universal design principles applied to assistive and adaptive technologies and products, a practice not just for low vision or blind people, but for all ages and abilities.

About ME

I am a sandwich mom in a sushi world. I thrive on change, attempt to take 10,000 steps per day and use positive reinforcement techniques for my kids as well as my dog — now in their teenage independence-seeking years.
